Remembering Fred Reed - BDPA Vice President, Milwaukee, WI

Milwaukee, WI: 4/10/25: It is with great sadness that the BDPA Milwaukee announces the passing of one of its executive committee leaders, Fred Reed.


Fred was a dedicated civil rights advocate and beloved community leader in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 87.


Born and raised in Milwaukee, Mr. Reed devoted his life to the pursuit of justice and equality for all. Through decades of grassroots activism, he worked tirelessly to challenge racial disparities, support youth programs, and foster unity across neighborhoods.





Mr. Reed was also an active member of the Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA), where he championed technology training and mentorship for underrepresented communities. His involvement with BDPA reflected his deep commitment to bridging the digital divide, believing that equal access to technology was a cornerstone of social equity. Known for his warmth, humility, and unwavering conviction, Mr. Reed inspired countless individuals to become civically engaged and strive for meaningful social change.


He leaves behind a profound legacy of service and a community forever shaped by his leadership and compassion. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched through his tireless advocacy.
